4th Year
about me:
Hola mi gente! My name is Sofia Posadas, and I am very excited to serve as this year’s President of the University Salsa Club! I am a fourth year studying Global Development and Sociology with a lot of passions, Salsa being one of them!
Salsa Club is where I found my place at UVA. Since first year, salsa has been a part of culture I get to share with my family, as I grew up watching my parents — who are from Venezuela — dance salsa at any chance they get and was excited to learn myself. I am very proud of my culture and getting the opportunity to share it with the best friends I have found in Ern Commons, and I want to offer others that same opportunity. To share and celebrate Latinx culture, community, and art with you all will be a big priority of mine this year!
With each year, I get more excited about contributing to this club’s efforts. I have served as the Club’s SalsaFest Logistics Chair (1st year), Secretary (2nd year), and Artistic Director (3rd year), so it’s safe to say I am ready and excited for the new year. I am very passionate about the Club in every way (woo!) - meeting new dancers, social dancing, making the club run more efficiently, and having lots of fun.
But Salsa isn’t the only thing I like to do, I promise! I am involved in Students Demand Action at UVA and love discovering new fun spots around Charlottesville. I am a fan of podcasts, traveling with family, movies (sofiapos on Letterboxd), Washington, DC and DC United (please talk to me about soccer!). I’m always excited to meet more Salsa Club-lovers so don’t hesitate to come up and say hi!
Love, Sof 💃🏽
